Water engineers will lead projects, have an understanding of mains (pipeline) design and be experienced with clean water modelling software. From investigations, feasibility and technical design for water treatment works schemes, water engineering jobs could see you immersed in water and wastewater treatment, sewerage, water supply and collection, resources, flood defences or fluvial engineering.
Water engineer jobs also involve the design of major urban infrastructure projects, hydraulic modelling, flood risk assessments and site development. Other work typically includes design of water and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, pumping stations, process design troubleshooting and flood protection works.
Proven water industry track record
Qualifications include a relevant degree (Civil/Environmental/Mechanical Engineering), postgraduate qualification or a design-led background. A proven track record of water, wastewater and sewerage works is an advantage as is a track record in hydraulics, design, civil, structural, process and/or M&E.
Solid knowledge of water frameworks in the UK is advantageous. Other important areas include exprience of the water industry, pipeline design, reinforced concrete, drainage, earthworks, foundations, hydraulics and clean water modelling experience.
