estimator jobs
Contractors usually win work via a formal tender process. It is the estimator who is responsible for responding to the tender documents and to submit a “bid” for the project as well as monitoring every stage of a project to ensure costs are kept in line with forecasts.
The bid will be based on the price to do the work, planning job timescales and quality of the build project. Estimators reports to the Commercial/Estimating Manager, dependent of size of the company.
One of the most important elements of estimator jobs is the ability to chart progress and unexpected costs on projects. This learning can then be used in putting together cost structures for future projects. Timescales are particularly important and unexpected time and resource in a job can really make costs add up.
